U.S. Stocks Move Modestly Higher After Initial Pullback

After moving to the downside early in the session, stocks have regained ground over the course of the trading day on Monday. The major averages have climbed well off their lows of the session and into positive territory.

Currently, the major averages are posting modest gains. The Nasdaq is up 65.93 points or 0.3 percent at 22,697.40, the S&P 500 is up 13.01 points or 0.2 percent at 6,677.37 and the Dow is up 61.11 points or 0.1 percent at 46,376.38.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
