United Community Financial Q2 Profit Declines - Quick Facts

United Community Financial Corp. (UCFC) reported that its second quarter net income was $2.7 million or $0.10 per share, compared to net income of $3.9 million, or $0.13 per share in the comparable quarter last year. Net interest income for the quarter increased to $19.1 million, from $18.2 million in the prior-year quarter. Non-interest income for the quarter was $11.4 million, down from $12.2 million in the same quarter of 2007.

For the six-month period, the company's net income was $6.8 million or $0.24 per share, in comparison with net income of $8.6 million or $0.29 per share in the same period last year. Net interest income for the period was $36.2 million, compared to $37.6 million in the same period prior year. Non-interest income for the period was $25.5 million, compared to $23.6 million in the year-ago period.
