Republic Airways September Load Factor Drops 3.4% - Update

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RJET) Friday reported a 3.4 percentage points decline in September load factor. Traffic and capacity for the month declined 7% and 2.3%, respectively.

Indianapolis, Indiana-based Republic Airways said its September load factor declined 3.4 p.p. to 69.0% from 72.4% in September last year. Traffic for the month, measured in revenue passenger miles, dropped 7.0% to 684.19 million from 735.41 million in the same month last year.

Available seat miles or capacity for the month dipped 2.3% to 992.18 million from 1.02 billion in September 2007.

Load factor for the third quarter dropped 2.4 p.p to 74.7% from 77.1% in the prior-year quarter. Third-quarter traffic increased 4.8% to 2.46 billion RPM from 2.34 billion RPM in the last-year quarter. Capacity for the quarter increased 8.2% to 3.29 billion ASM from 3.04 billion ASM in the same quarter a year earlier.

Year-to-date load factor declined to 74.3% from 75.3% in the year-ago period. Traffic for the period climbed 18.3% to 7.39 billion RPM and capacity advanced 20.1% to 9.96 billion ASM.

RJET is trading at $9.99, down $0.80 or 7.41%, on a volume of about 378 thousand shares.
