EBay Inc (EBAY) to buy a controlling stake in Gmarket Inc (GMKT), according to media reports. Ebay is expected to buy Gmarket stake from Interpark and the Korean firm's chairman. The final contract reportedly is expected to be signed on April 15.
This deal would help eBay to emerge as a prominant player in South Korea's customer-to-customer online market.
