The US has not received reliable information on the whereabouts of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in years, Defence Secretary Robert Gates said. In an interview to be telecast Sunday on ABC's "This Week," Gates said, "Well, we don't know for a fact where Osama bin Laden is. If we did, we'd go get him."

Gates also refused to confirm reports that Laden is in Afghanistan. A Taliban detainee in Pakistan had said last week that he had information that the al-Qaeda leader is now in Afghanistan. Laden was previously believed to be hiding on the Pakistan side of the border with Afghanistan.
