Japanese Auto Production Rises Further

Japanese vehicle production logged growth for a third month in December, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said in a report on Tuesday.

Automobile production rose 13.4 percent in December from a year ago to 848,208 units. The annual growth was faster than the 4.5 percent expansion seen in November. Production for the calendar year 2011 was recorded as 8.39 million units, which was down by 1.23 million units or 12.8 percent.

At the same time, motorcycle production grew 8.3 percent annually in December. For the calendar year 2011, production declined by 25,188 units or 3.8 percent.
