US Ecology Q4 Profit Rises; Sees FY12 EPS Above Estimates - Quick Facts

Waste management services provider US Ecology, Inc. (ECOL) on Thursday reported higher profit for the fourth quarter, aided by a 5 percent growth in revenues. The firm guided 2012 earnings above Wall Street estimates.

Net income for the quarter increased to $6.7 million or $0.37 per share from $4.5 million or $0.25 per share in the prior year.

Excluding non-cash foreign currency gains, adjusted earnings stood at $0.34 per share. In the prior year, adjusted earnings were $0.29 per share. On average, 3 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.24 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenue increased 5 percent to $41.6 million from $39.5 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected revenues of $39.25 million for the quarter.

The company expects earnings per share in 2012 to range between $1.07 and $1.17, excluding any foreign currency gains or losses. Analysts expect full-year earnings of $1.05 per share.

The firm also remains committed to adding new assets and capabilities through acquisition in 2012.
