Indonesia's Exports Rise More Than Expected

Indonesia's exports grew stronger than expected in February, data from Statistics Indonesia showed Monday.

Exports rose 8.54 percent year-on-year in February to $15.65 billion. Economists expected a 6.5 percent rise. Compared January, shipments increased 0.49 percent.

During the month, imports surged 27.26 percent annually to $14.95 billion. This was faster than the 23 percent growth forecast. On a monthly basis, imports rose 2.74 percent.

The trade balance was in a surplus of $0.7 billion compared to expectations for a surplus of $0.85 billion.
