French President Francois Hollande called for the issuance of euro bills as a short-term measure, the newspaper Handelsblatt reported Tuesday, citing a strategy paper.

The issue of euro bills will be easier than euro bond issue if there is support from the part of political leaders. The bills will have a maturity of three months.

The German weekly Der Spiegel over the weekend reported that the European Union is preparing a framework for the joint issuance of the short-term common debt instruments called euro bills. The EU summit later this month is likely to discuss the idea of the bond issue.
