Romania's current account deficit decreased from last year in the January-June period, data released by the National Bank of Romania showed Monday.
The current account shortfall decreased to EUR2.41 billion during the three months ended June from EUR3.42 billion in the same period a year earlier.
The deficit in the goods and services account dropped modestly to EUR3.16 billion from EUR3.41 billion in the three months ended June 2011.
The balance in the income account was a deficit of EUR1.16 billion during the period, slightly lower than the EUR1.69 billion shortfall recorded a year earlier.
The current transfers account, meanwhile, showed a surplus of EUR1.91 billion during the three-month period, higher than last year's surplus of EUR1.68 billion, data showed.
