Greek Current Account Deficit Falls In June

Greece's current account shortfall decreased significantly from last year in June, data released by Bank of Greece showed Monday.

The current account deficit narrowed to EUR274.3 million in June from EUR1.598 billion in the same month a year earlier.

The shortfall in the goods trade account declined to EUR1.73 billion from EUR2.086 billion a year earlier. The services account showed a surplus of EUR1.710 billion during the month, down from last year's EUR1.779 billion surplus.

The deficit in the income account declined markedly to EUR243.4 million in June from EUR1.233 billion a year earlier, while the current transfers deficit fell to EUR11.3 million from EUR57.8 million, data showed.
