Iran has called for an international consensus against the ongoing Israeli "aggression" against Gaza, and for restoration of peace and stability in the besieged Palestinian enclave, Iranian state media reported.

"Our human and religious duty obliges us to make efforts to prevent the massacre of Gaza's innocent people and restore peace and sustainable security in this region and also the entire land of Palestine," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Morsi in telephonic talks on Sunday.

Gaza is under Israeli fire for the sixth consecutive day on Monday, and three Palestinians, including a child, were killed in Israeli air strikes on the enclave, raising the Palestinian death toll to 85, Iran's Press TV reported.

Ahmadinejad called for a clear plan to stop the violence and bloodshed in Gaza, urging an international consensus against the Israeli "aggression." The recent attacks on Gaza rage on as Israel keeps its crippling blockade on the coastal strip. "It is necessary to make all efforts to stop the massacre of women and children and the innocent people of Gaza and Palestine, he added.

Morsi expressed concern over the situation in Gaza and said he had been in contact with the leaders of other countries in order to reach an international consensus against Israel, the report said.

Analysts believe that Iran has been supporting the Hamas in Gaza by providing rockets and missiles, and the Islamist militant group is in possession of Iran-made Fajr-5 long range missiles that could reach as far as Tel Aviv, the Israeli commercial city on the Mediterranean. Israel had threatened military strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities to deter the Islamic Republic from what the Jewish State and the West suspect developing atomic weapons under its disputed nuclear program.
