Latvia's producer price inflation increase in March after slowing in the previous month, data from the Central Statistical Bureau showed on Monday.

The producer price index rose 2.2 percent year-on-year, following a 1.7 percent increase in February. In January, the figure was 2.1 percent. The latest inflation figure was the highest since December.

Producer prices in manufacturing climbed 3.1 percent, while prices rose 5.3 percent in mining and quarrying. Prices edged up 0.2 percent in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, but fell 3.9 percent in the water supply and waste management sector.

In the domestic market, pipeline inflation slowed sharply to 0.8 percent from 1.3 percent in February. That is the weakest figure since a series of declines that ended in mid-2010.

Overall producer prices edged up 0.1 percent on a monthly basis in March. Prices in the domestic market declined 0.4 percent.
