Taiwan Jobless Rate Rises For Second Month

Taiwan's unemployment rate increased for a second consecutive month in April, the latest figures from the Director-General Budget, Account and Statistics showed Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged up to 4.19 percent in April from 4.18 percent in March. The unadjusted rate was at 4.07 percent, down from 4.17 percent in March.

The number of unemployed persons in April was 464,000 on an unadjusted basis, a decrease of 2.32 percent from the previous month. Year-on-year, unemployment rose 0.16 percent.

Total employment increased 0.07 percent in April from a month earlier. It increased 1.02 percent when compared with that of the previous year.
