Jordin Sparks has released a new single "Skipping a Beat," a track she wrote for her man, Jason Derulo. The former American Idol champ also posted an Instagram video of her singing the track to Derulo.
"You're my lover, you're my friend, you're my gangsta," she coos on the track which is currently streaming freely via SoundCloud.
According to the Examiner, the song is a perfect blend of a pretty melody and Jordin's booming vocals:
"Lyrically, she plays with music metaphors throughout, comparing switching up the tune on a song to falling in love. All this playfulness on 'Skipping a Beat' is buoyed to the next level with Sparks' big voice."
Sparks' last full length was 2009's Battlefield. There's no telling whether "Skipping a Beat" will be part of a greater effort from her.
