Japan saw a current account surplus of 336.3 billion yen in June, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.

That missed forecasts for a surplus of 400.0 billion yen following the 540.7 billion yen surplus in May.

The surplus plummeted 20.3 percent on year, also shy of expectations for a contraction of 3.5 percent following the 58.1 percent surge in the previous month.

The trade balance reflected a deficit of 139.2 billion yen versus forecasts for a shortfall of 128.7 billion yen following the 906.7 billion yen deficit a month earlier.
