Hungary's merchandise trade surplus decreased in June, and to a slightly larger extent than estimated earlier, final data released by the Central Statistical Office said Monday.
The trade surplus declined to EUR580.7 million in June from EUR715.4 million in the same month a year earlier. The preliminary estimates were for a surplus of EUR582.8 million. In May, the balance was surplus of EUR540 million.
Export of goods, in volume terms, dropped 2.9 percent on an annual basis in June, reversing the previous month's 0.1 percent gain. Imports, meanwhile recorded a 1.1 percent annual increase. This followed a 4.5 percent increase in May.
The values of exports and imports for June were EUR6.7 billion and EUR6.1 billion respectively, the agency said.
During the January-June period, exports increased 1.9 percent from the corresponding period of last year, and imported grew by 3.2 percent. Net trade for the period resulted in a surplus of EUR3.5 billion, data showed.
