Greece's Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said that the country will not need a third bailout package as the economy enters an era of recovery after six years of painful recession.

"There will be no need for a new loan package," he said during a joint press briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. "We want to stay true to the current program, as well as its objectives."

Greece already has a primary surplus and the economy will soon return to a recovery mode, Samaras said while also expressing confidence that the government will be able to meet its payment obligations.

Merkel said that if Greece is able to achieve a primary surplus this year, the country's creditors will consider some debt relief. Any discussion on this will happen only after the release of the final budget data in April next year, she noted.
