The Danish Government agreed earlier this month to extend the term of General Knud Bartels as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee until mid-2015, the western military alliance said in a press release issued Wednesday.
During discussions at the 2013 Military Committee Conference in Budapest (13-15 September), NATO Chiefs of Defense had unanimously requested General Bartels to consider a six-month extension as Chairman of the Military Committee.
General Bartels acknowledged the request and informed that he would accept such an extension subject to approval by the Danish Government.
The NATO press release indicated that the Danish Government had agreed on December 3 to extend the terms of General Bartels and his staff until mid-2015.
