Home Depot Inc. (HD) Rose Sharply On Better Than Expected Q4 Earnings News

Home Depot Inc. (HD) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.73 Tuesday morning, up from $0.68 a year ago. Analysts had expected EPS of $0.71. Looking ahead for fiscal year 2014, Home Depot expects earnings-per-share growth of approximately 16.5 percent to $4.38. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $4.43.

Home Depot gapped open higher Tuesday and rose above the session's range in the final 90 minutes of trade. The stock finished up by 3.11 at $80.98 on above average volume. Home Depot climbed to a 1-month high and re-crossed its 50-day moving average.
