Nordstrom, Inc. (JWN) reported net income for the second quarter of $183 million or $0.95 per share, compared to $184 million or $0.93 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Net sales for the second quarter rose 6.2% to $3.30 billion from $3.10 billion in the same quarter last year. Total company same-store sales for the second quarter increased 3.3%.
Total revenue for the second quarter increased to $3.39 billion from $3.20 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.95 per share on revenue of $3.39 billion for the second quarter.
For the fiscal year 2014, the company now forecasts net sales growth of 6.5% to 7.5% and earnings of $3.80 to $3.90 per share. Previously, the company forecast net sales growth of $5.5% to 7.5% and earnings of $3.75 to $3.90 per share. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $3.90 per share on revenue growth of 7.10% for the fiscal year 2014.
