Greece Jobless Rate Falls Further In June

The Greek jobless rate declined for the second straight month in June, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.

The unemployment rate fell to 27 percent from a revised 27.1 percent in May. The rate was forecast to fall to 27.1 percent from the initially estimated rate of 27.2 percent in May. The jobless rate stood at 27.6 percent in June 2013.

The number of unemployed decreased by 4,370 from May and by 43,291 from last year. At the same time, employment increased by 10,290 from May, but decreased 3,101 from June 2013.

The unemployment rate among youth aged between 15 and 24 came in at 51.5 percent versus 58.8 percent a year ago.
