Target is set to raise its minimum wage to $9 per hours for every worker as early as April, according to reports Thursday.

The move comes under pressure from labor advocacy groups and follows last month's announcement from rival Walmart that it has raised its minimum wage to $9.

There is no word as to whether Target will then raise its minumum from $9 to $10 by February of next year, as Walmart has already promised. The federal minimum wage currently remains only $7.25 per hour, but numerous major retailers have now set their wage floor above that mark.

The story was first reported by Dow Jones, with details later provided to Reuters by a source close to the matter.

In other news, CNN reports the retailer is extending its return window to one full year for purchases of products produced by Target.

These items include clothing lines Mossimo and C9 by Champion, foods from Archer Farms, as well as Chef Mate and Circo products.

Liz Lange and Sonia Kashuk products distrubuted by Target are also eligible for one-year returns.

Any gifts purchased from a Target gift registry can also be returned within one full year.

Target previously allowed returns up to 90 days on these items.
