The U.S. weekly jobless claims for the week ended September 12, housing starts and building permits for August are due at 8:30 am ET Thursday. Ahead of these reports, the greenback held steady against its key counterparts.
The greenback was quoted at 1.5527 against the pound, 0.9678 against the franc, 120.91 against the yen and 1.1319 against the euro as of 8:25 am ET.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
