Tom Petty has shared his memories of Prince's legendary guitar solo during a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. The solo came during a tribute performance for the late George Harrison and Prince joined an all-star band for a cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
In the now legendary performance, Prince strides out on the stage towards the end of the track to take the famous solo originally recorded for the White Album. Petty recalls the moment when the solo took place.
"You see me nodding at him, to say, 'Go on, go on,'" he said. "I remember I leaned out at him at one point and gave him a 'This is going great!' kind of look. He just burned it up. You could feel the electricity of 'something really big's going down here.'"
