On December 5, the Red Hot Chili Peppers kicked off their United Kingdom tour with Babymetal. The RHCP headlined at London's 02 arena for the first of a nine-date stint.
RHCP are out in support of their new 2016 album, The Gateway. The band performed a number of new songs off the album at their London performance as well as some of their classic hits. The set list begins with an "Intro Jam" and ends with an encore of "Goodbye Angles" and "Give It Away." The band also threw in a Stevie Wonder cover, "Higher Ground," which gave way to their own classic "Under the Bridge."
The opening act Babymetal is not to be overlooked. The high energy Japanese sensation has been making their own buzz. The unlikely pairing surprised even Babymetal themselves. In an interview with NME, Yuimetal said, "We met them during FUJI ROCK. Words cannot explain how surprised we were when we returned to the side of the stage and saw them checking out our performance." Several more UK dates are to follow with the final show being in Dublin at 3Arena on December 21.
