New Zealand's consumer confidence eased in December after strengthening in the previous three months, survey results from ANZ Bank showed Friday.

The ANZ Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence Index dropped to 124.5 in December from November's 19-month high of 127.2. Despite this fall, economic signals remained healthy during the month.

The survey reveled that last month's earthquake didn't appear to show any material impact in Wellington and Canterbury. Wellington was top contender for the second month in a row.

The current conditions index fell to 125.1 in December from 127.3. Similarly, the index measuring future conditions dropped to 124.1 from 127.2
