A career spanning Aaliyah compilation titled The Ultimate Aaliyah Collection briefly became available via iTunes this week, but was pulled from the service in less than 24 hours. The collection features many of the late singer's best loved tracks and greatest hits, many of which had been held back from Apple's download service amongst others.
The release includes selections such as "Are You That Somebody," "One In A Million," and "Hot Like Fire" and was originally released in 2005, four years after her death. Thus far it has only been released to iTunes and has not yet appeared on Spotify or Tidal.
Aaliyah most recently made headlines over the summer when she was tributed by a slew of hip-hop and R&B's biggest names on the fifteenth anniversary of her death. One such tribute came via Missy Elliott who took to Instagram, saying that she still thinks of Aaliyah on a daily basis.
"15 years later to me feels like just yesterday," she wrote. "I can still hear your laughter, I can clearly see us dancing in the studio me u @timbaland @ginuwine Magoo the whole clique we miss u so much there's not a day u aren't thought of!"
