Weezer To Release 'Africa' Cover On Vinyl

Weezer is set to release their cover version of Toto's "Africa" on vinyl on August 31, via Urban Outfitters.

The band decided to cover the classic track after a teenage fan's request that went viral on Twitter. Weezer initially played a joke on the fans by covering "Rosanna," another track from Toto that won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1983.

The "Africa" cover version by Weezer charted at number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100, turning out to be the band's biggest hit in a decade.

Recently, Weezer teamed up with Jimmy Kimmel Live! for a performance of "Africa," with Toto's Steve Pocaro playing the keyboard solo.

The lime green vinyl, with the cover art consisting of some palm trees and the tweet "@RiversCuomo it's about time you bless the rains down in africa," will be released on a limited edition 7" record and feature both "Africa" and "Rosanna."
