The Government of Telangana, a south Indian state, has partnered with digital transformation provider Tech Mahindra to unveil India's first Blockchain District.
The Telangana State Information Technology, Electronics and Communication department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU with Tech Mahindra to launch the district in the state of Telangana.
It is expected to be an incubator for technology and process development to foster growth of Indian blockchain start-ups and companies. Tech Mahindra will provide platform and technology assistance to all the incubators in the Blockchain District.
Further, the state will provide regulatory and policy support to enable and promote Blockchain growth both in India and globally.
IT Minister, K T Rama Rao, said, "With support from Tech Mahindra, we envision to set a global benchmark in providing cutting-edge Blockchain technology solutions and platforms across industries."
According to Gurnani, CEO & MD, Tech Mahindra, the Blockchain District would be a global talent hub that can unlock the value of blockchain technology in democratizing data and solving big scale world problems.
