The Red Hot Chili Peppers will start writing their follow-up to the 2016 album, The Getaway, in two weeks.
The news was revealed by frontman Anthony Kiedis to the New York Post during a New York Fashion Week event.
Kiedis attended the New York fashion show for designer Libertine accompanied by a number of celebrities, clad in stickers and an Adidas jacket.
It will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 12th studio album, and the third by the current members - Kiedis, drummer Chad Smith, bassist Flea, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
An extensive world tour in support of The Getaway helped them become the 14th highest-earning band last year.
The band collected $18.5 million from U.S. concerts and royalties generated from domestic sales, streaming and publishing alone.
