To watch the movie A Star is Born and its music growing into a phenomenon was great, says the man who wrote "Maybe It's Time" for its soundtrack.
Jason Isbell looked back on his accomplishments in the past year in a recent interview with Billboard.
2018 was a successful year for the singer-songwriter and guitarist from Green Hill.
He won two Grammy awards, a significant song writing credit on the soundtrack for A Star is Born, and released a live album, Live From the Ryman.
"It was great," he told Billboard.
"I was really surprised that they would reach out to me. I think Dave Cobb had a lot to do with that. When they were looking for a song to be the anchor of Jackson's character in that movie, they gave me the screenplay, and I read it and thought to myself, "This is actually not bad!" That was surprising, because they were remaking this movie again for the third or fourth time, Bradley Cooper's not directed anything before, and he [was] gonna direct it, so you're thinking, "Okay, this is probably not going to be very good." But when I read it, I thought, "This has a chance to be something I'm really proud of," Isbell added.
