Department store chain Stein Mart, Inc. (SMRT), Wednesday, named Gregory Kleffner as its new chief financial officer effective August 10, when the current finance chief James Delfs retires. Kleffner would assume his duties as senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer in his new role.

"Greg's strong financial and strategic experience with industry-leading manufacturers and retailers makes him a great addition to our team," said David Stovall, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Stein Mart.

Prior to joining Stein Mart, Kleffner spent six years with Kellwood Company, and most recently as chief financial officer.

Kleffner was instrumental in the strategic restructuring of the $2.5 billion company, including the disposal of certain non-core businesses and the successful integration of several acquisitions, Stein Mart said.

Prior to joining Kellwood in 2002, Kleffner was Audit and Advisory Partner with Arthur Andersen LLP in St. Louis. His clients comprised several major retailers during a 25-year career in Arthur Andersen.

SMRT is currently trading at $11.525 on the Nasdaq, up $0.005 or 0.04%.
