Narayana Murthy Sells Part Shares In Infosys

Infosys chief mentor N. R. Narayana Murthy sold 8 lakh shares or 0.13% of his stake in the company for Rs.174.30 crore through market sales on the Bombay and National stock exchanges. He intends to utilize the proceeds to set up a venture capital fund, media reports said, quoting a disclosure by the company on bourses.

Murthy said the proceeds of the sale would be used as seed capital for a proposed Venture Capital Fund to be set up by him in India, the company said.

The Venture Capital Fund will provide funds to the aspiring young entrepreneurs with brilliant business ideas. Initially the Fund will invest in India and later consider investing in overseas on a case-to-case basis.

Post sale, Murthy holds 23.79 lakh equity shares or 0.41% stake in the company, the filing said.

As per latest data available on the exchanges, Murthy held 0.55% stake or 31.80 lakh shares at the end of the September quarter. His wife Sudha holds 1.62% stake in the firm, while daughter Akshata and son Rohan hold 1.41% and 1.39%, respectively.
