Eli Lilly CFO Derica Rice Promoted To EVP; Assumes Expanded Responsibility - Update

Pharma major Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY), Friday said that its Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Derica Rice has assumed expanded responsibilities and has been promoted to Executive Vice President, global services, effective January 1.

Rice will continue as Chief Financial Officer and will hold the additional responsibility of global services, ongoing global services design project, as well as IT and six sigma.

Commenting on the appointment, John Lechleiter, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "Derica, in his new role, will help ensure that these important functions, aligned with our global services design effort, continue to provide needed support to our business units and our key functions in the most efficient and effective way possible."

Rice, who joined Lilly in 1990, held a number of leadership roles including Chief Financial Officer for Lilly Canada, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer for European operations based in London, and the General Manager of Lilly United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Before becoming the Chief Financial Officer of the company, Rice had been the Vice President and Controller since July 2003.

LLY is currently trading at $35.64, down 0.19 or 0.54%, on a volume of 2.63 million shares on the NYSE.
