Copa Holdings Jan. Traffic Rises 8.1% - Update

Copa Holdings, S.A. (CPA), Monday reported a rise in consolidated traffic for January from the year ago period. Consolidated traffic for January increased 8.1%, on a 3.3% capacity rise. Monthly load factor increased 3.6 percentage points.

For January, Panama City-based Copa Holdings' system-wide traffic increased 8.1% to 720.1 million revenue passenger miles or RPMs from 666.1 million RPMs last year.

Monthly consolidated capacity was 884.1 million available seat miles or ASMs, up 3.3% from 856.0 million ASMs in the previous year.

Consolidated load factor for January increased 3.6 percentage points to 81.5% from a year ago.

The operating subsidiary of Copa Holdings, Copa Airlines' traffic rose 6.6% to 606.3 million RPMs for the month of January from last year. The subsidiary's capacity increased 2.7% to 734.9 million ASMs and load factor increased 3.1 points to 82.5%.

Another operating subsidiary Aero Republica's January traffic increased 16.7% to 113.8 million RPMs, as capacity improved 6.5% to 149.1 million ASMs from a year ago. Load factor improved 6.7 points to 76.3%.

CPA is currently trading at $49.81, down 0.12 or 0.24%, on a volume of 80K shares on the NYSE.
