Monday, TW Telecom Inc. (TWTC) reported that its profit for the fourth quarter increased from the previous year quarter.
The company recorded fourth-quarter net income of $11.1 million or $0.07 per share, compared to $0.9 million or $0.01 per share last year.
On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $0.05 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. Total revenue increased to $307.93million from $294.64 million last year. Analysts expected revenue of $308.28 million for the quarter.
The company recorded $13.9 million increase in revenue from enterprise customers, or 6% year over year, $1.9 million decrease in revenue from carriers, $1.3 million increase in intercarrier compensation related primarily to fluctuations in disputes and volume as well as rate changes.
For the fiscal year the company recorded net income of $27.6 million or $0.19 per share for 2009, compared to a net loss of $7.3 million or $0.05 per share for 2008. For the year ended December 31, 2009, the company reported $1.2 billion in revenue, compared to $1.1 for the previous period.
TWTC closed Monday's regular trading at $15.52 up $0.47 or 3.12% on the Nasdaq.
