Sporting goods company Adidas AG (ADDDF.PK) and Adidas Canada Ltd. Thursday announced filing a law suit in the Federal Court of Canada against Payless ShoeSource, alleging, in part, that certain footwear sold by Payless infringes upon Adidas' rights in its brand symbol Three-Stripes Mark.

The companies noted that similar legal disputes between Adidas and Payless have been going on for some time now. It revealed the conclusion of a seven-year legal dispute between the companies in the U.S. in May last year.

The U.S. court reached a unanimous verdict following its findings that for 267 styles of shoes, Payless had willfully infringed upon the Adidas' rights on the Three-Stripes Mark and/or the Superstar trade dress. As of now the U.S. litigation is on appeal. Adidas is confident that the judgment will be upheld.

Payless is a discount footwear retailer located in Topeka, Kansas.

ADDDF.PK last traded on March 25, to close at 35.25.
