In an interview with RTT News, Jim McCann, founder and CEO of 1-800 Flowers.com discusses how the gift retailer is gearing up for Mother's Day - it's biggest floral sales holiday of the year. McCann anticipates that consumers will still buy, "but they'll probably be cutting back" amid the "worst recession" he has encountered in the company's 33-year history.
McCann says 1-800 Flowers.com has had to take a "sharper pencil" to their pricing as a result of the economic downturn. 'We'd much rather have people come to us with a tighter pocket book than not come to us at all," he adds.
