Diverse service provider Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) announced Tuesday that it won two contracts, one valued over 100 million pounds or about US$160 million to design the expansion of Robert Gordon University's campus in Scotland, and another from Missouri Department of Transportation or MoDOT valued at $2.6 million to rehabilitate the Blanchette Bridges in Missouri.
As for the $160-million University contract, Jacobs would provide structural and civil engineering design for the expansion of the Garthdee campus near Aberdeen, Scotland, involving construction of new facilities for the schools of art, architecture, social sciences, and pharmacy as well as a learning resource center, technology campus and an extension to the business school.
The new facilities will provide an educational as well as recreational environment in a park-like setting, the company said.
In a separate press release, Jacobs announced that it also won a $2.6 million contract from MoDOT to provide inspection and engineering services to recondition the Blanchette Bridges, which connect across the Missouri River at St. Charles.
The agreement would require Jacobs to provide preliminary and final design, and consultation during renovation work, intended restore the condition of the older Westbound bridge and develop a maintenance plan in order to extend its service life by 50 years. The company will also provide inspection and evaluation of critical components of the newer Eastbound bridge.
JEC closed Monday's regular trading hours at $42.54 on the NYSE.
