Venus Remedies said that it received a product patent from Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office (CIPRO) for Potentox in South Africa following Sulbactomax and Tobracef. This is also the third patent of Potentox within five months of its first grant in South Korea.
Potentox is a unique super specialty product with combination of a cephalosporin with aminoglycoside indicated for the treatment of hospital acquired pneumonia, community acquired pneumonia and Febrile Neutropenia.
The product was launched in Indian market two years back after completion of all pre clinical and multi centric phase-III clinical trials on more than 300 patients after DCGI approval. Later after the launch post marketing phase-IV studies were also conducted to re-establish the safety of drug, said the company.
