Sales of the Beatles' video game have been somewhat slack, according to a new industry report.
Beatles: Rock Band has sold 1.18 million copies in the U.S. and 1.7 million copies worldwide since its September release, according to NPD Group.
While the game has outsold Guitar Hero 5, which also came out in September and has sold 996,000 copies, it is sold far less than the 3.4 million that Guitar Hero: World Tour had in 2008. The U.S. performance for the Beatles game was also below Rock Band 2's 1.7 million in American sales for 2008.
The sluggish sales for Beatles: Rock Band come at a time when overall music video game sales have taken a severe hit. The NPD report showed a 46% drop in sales for this category, to a level of $1.06 billion. The video game industry as a whole experienced an 8% slide last year.
