The SyFy channel has canceled its series "Stargate Universe" after failing to renew it for a third season.
The remaining ten episodes of the series, which is currently in its second season, will air in the spring. "Stargate Universe"'s planned five-year story has been modified for the end of the series.
The show, which is a spin-off of the "Stargate" series that began with "Stargate SG-1" in 1997, struggled in its second season's ratings. The show has averaged one million viewers per episode, in contrast to the pilot episode, which drew 2.3 million viewers in 2009.
"Stargate Universe" is the third "Stargate" franchise show to be canceled.
