Celine Dion hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Because You Loved Me” on March 23, 1996. The track was released as the first single off Celine’s album “Falling Into You” and was written by legendary hit maker Dianne Warren.
When the track hit number one, it claimed the top spot from "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. Celine held on at number one through April 27 with the track, when "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey hit number one.
Warren penned the track for the soundtrack of the hit film “Up Close and Personal” and explained her approach while speaking with Billboard:
“A lot of times when I’m asked to write a song for a movie, I want to write what I’d like to hear at the end of the movie,” she explained.
