Rap’s favorite loudmouth Kanye West hit number one on the Billboard 200 on September 17, 2005 with his sophomore release, “Late Registration.” The highly anticipated follow-up to 2004’s “The College Dropout” was led by the hits “Diamonds From Sierra Leone” and “Gold Digger” which feature Jamie Foxx singing a section of Ray Charles’ “I Got A Woman.” The album was one of the most pre-ordered digital albums in history on Apple's iTunes music service. After its release, “Late Registration” racked up awards and accolades for West, including album of the year honors from Rolling Stone, and the top spot in the 2005 Pazz & Jop poll conducted by the Village Voice. “Late Registration” also won Best Rap Album at the 2006 Grammy Awards.
