If there is a recession gripping the the country, one would have been hard pressed to find evidence of it at Lollapalooza 2009.

While both ends of Chicago's massive Grant Park were packed to the gills for headliner sets, the highlight of the weekend was the scene at host Perry Farrel's stage, where DJs, hip-hop acts and techno stars kept a few thousand scenesters in rapture throughout.

Farrell himself performed a red-hot set in the afternoon sun, a prelude to Sunday evening's festival closer with his band Jane's Addiction.
