New Zealand Credit Card Spending On Tap For Monday

New Zealand will on Monday release May figures for credit card spending, highlighting a light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. Card spending was down 0.6 percent on month in April, and up 7.1 percent on year.

New Zealand also will see Q2 results for the consumer confidence index from Westpac Bank; in the first quarter, the index score was 117.4.

The Bank of Japan will release its monthly economic report for June, and also see May figures for supermarket sales. In April, sales were up 6.4 percent on year.

Taiwan will release unemployment figures for May, with the jobless rate expected to hold steady at a seasonally adjusted 3.75 percent.

Finally, the markets in China will be closed on Monday for the Dragon Boat Festival, and will re-open on Tuesday.
