David Bowie's final album, Blackstar, has reached number one on the Billboard 200. It's the highest charting record by Bowie, whose previous highest charting record was the 2002 comp Best of Bowie.
Blackstar managed to knock Adele's 25 out of the number one spot. The record also topped U.K. charts, making it Bowie's 10th chart topper in England.
In its first week on U.S. charts, Blackstar moved 181,000 equivalent album units in the U.S, according to Nielsen Music.
The LP is the first posthumous number one album since Michael Jackson's This Is It debuted atop the list in 2009.
Blackstar was released on January 8, Bowie's 69th birthday. Bowie died on January 10 after a 18-month battle with cancer.
