Costco Wholesale Corp. is planning to deliver about 500 non-perishable food items within two days, and fresh groceries to home the same day, using its Instacart.
Customers can order online and avail free delivery for orders of more than $75. Costco has tied up with UPS for delivery.
Instacart, already available in metropolitan areas, would extend its service to more areas by next year and plans same-day delivery of around 2000 items.
The company was not keen to pursue the online route. However, now it changed its mind to cater to customers living more than 150 - 200 miles away from the stores. There will not be any weekend delivery.
Costco will be charging higher for non-members ordering using the same-day Instacart. There will be an additional fee for Instacart orders of below $35.
