US-based crypto currency exchange Poloniex is delisting eight assets on September 25.

The digital currencies that will be excluded from the platform's offerings are bitcoindark (BTCD), bitmark (BTM), einsteinium (EMC2), gridcoin (GRC), neoscoin (NEOS), potcoin (POT), vericoin (VRC), and bitcoin plus (XBC).

The decision is "as part of the Poloniex team's continuous effort to improve the performance of the exchange and to better serve its customers."

The Delaware-headquartered company advised its customers to finalize all trades and close any positions in these assets before September 25. Once delisted, they will have 30 days to withdraw any balances in these assets.

The deadline may be extended in the rare event that wallet availability is interrupted, in which case holders of impacted assets will be contacted.

The company explained that it is delisting the BitcoinDark network because the Developers of BitcoinDark (BTCD) chain is no longer usable or reliable.

"Funds are not currently transferable over the BTCD chain, and therefore when we disable support for BTCD markets on Poloniex, we will need to secure BTCD in cold storage".

The company has promised to re-assess and explore ways to re-enable transfers in a way that will allow for safe transfers if the network becomes operational again in the future "within a reasonable period."
